See the Story–Live the Story…as justice-seekers

The CCS theme for the 2015-16 school year is “See the Story-Live the Story.”  God has written and is writing a story of redemption and calls each of us to “live in his story.”  It is our hope that throughout this school year, CCS students will grow in their understanding of God’s story and identify ways they can live in his story.  Each month we will look at a new way that we, as disciples of Christ, can live in God’s story.  During the month of December, we are focusing on being justice-seekers.

CCHS students are learning to put justice-seeking into action, helping renovate houses with Urban Homeworks.

One does not have to look far to realize that the world is not as God intended it to be.  There as so many examples of injustices all around us– the injustices of poverty, racism, murder, exploitation, stealing, abuse in relationships, etc.  The Bible is clear that justice is a central component of God’s Kingdom that we are to seek after.  It is the first requirement listed in answer to Micah’s question, “What does the Lord require of you?”  Answer:  To act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.

As Christians, we are called to live in God’s story by identifying and responding to the injustices around us.  This takes courage and boldness, but it is what God has called us to be.  We are to be alert  to identify injustices, both large and small, and then pray for wisdom in our call to take action.  In the words of Psalm 82:3, “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.”
